How to Build a Home

The first thing Sarah did on arrival in her new home was to take a good look around. Like the social workers at the orphanage had said, the view was certainly very beautiful. But she also noticed that they had neglected to mention the fact that there was nothing else there, except for the letter box and the garbage can. And she only had about 1500 simoleons to spare!
"Well, I'll just have to make do with what I've got," Sarah decided finally. And she set to work.

Starting with the basics: Sarah bought a bed for sleeping, a fridge for food, a television for fun, a chair to watch it from, a wall, a toilet to go on the wall, and a single lamp to give her some light. There was no money left for more walls, floors or even a shower, but that was not a problem - Sarah knew where to get money. Since she wished to join the science career, Sarah immediately jumped into a taxi and went for a job interview at the science lab.



And as for the shower, well, Sarah knew just how to compensate for that as well. She knew enough about the world and the towns in it to know that every gym has showers, and hansome, athletic young men. What better place to have a wash and find a husband at the same time? Having been successful in her job interview, Sarah took a taxi back to the gymnasium to see what she could find there.

When Sarah arrived at the gym, she straight away began looking out for eligable young men. Sarah was quite conscious of her beauty - she had recieved many a compliment for it in a place where most of the children were ugly and unwanted. She wouldn't settle for just any man. He must be good looking, not have any beliefs in conflict with her own, and have some good traits to pass on to the children.

As she walked inside, Sarah spotted a young man just inside the door. He was not ugly, and Sarah was just starting to consider him when she noticed his evil grin as he plotted money-making schemes. Sarah was so horrified she hurried past him without a second glance. She would have no traits like that passed on to her children.

Sarah glanced around at all the other people in the gym. None of them seemed very appealing. She passed a large family outside, who had several young men among them, but they were either too old or too fat. She needed someone about her own age...

Sarah could not see anyone who she could possibly start a family with. An old man doing starjumps was out of the question...

She noticed a young man over in a corner, but another girl was already making eyes at him. Besides, a surname like "Broke" wasn't a good sign.

Sarah decided to get some exercise while she waited. She started running on the treadmill, but her athletic skill wasn't very high and she slipped over. How emabrrassing! Everyone was watching.

Maybe the sight of her in a bikini would attract some young men? Sarah didn't much like the idea, but at least she had a good body to show off.

No luck.  Sarah decided that there was no-one worth having at the gym and made up her mind to try the swimming pool instead. Relaxing in a beach chair in her bikini, Sarah spotted a possible candidate - a young, handsome man. He might even have some good traits into the bargain. She decided to talk to him tomorrow.

Sarah looked all over town, but there was no-one interesting around anywhere.

Since it was too late to talk to anyone and she was getting hungry,Sarah went home for the night, and watched romance shows on her television before bed.

The next morning, she got up and went back to the gym. Soon, she spotted the man she had seen yesterday at the pool. She went over and talked to him.

He had some okay traits, but he was - married! Sarah knew she could not interfere with a marriage, so she left him alone and went out looking for another man. She soon found him.

But he hated art, Sarah's passion, and he had a girlfriend already. Sarah was ready to give up in despair when she spotted another young chinese man on the treadmill. She went up to talk to him.

Third time lucky - this one was single. His name was Lee, he had some good traits, and none of them conflicted with her own. They took to each other immediately, ending in an agreement for her to go to his house the next afternoon.

Meanwhile, Sarah went home and slept. She had had a busy day.
